Portuguese airports see 2.5% passenger growth in first half of year

Portuguese national airports saw a 2.5% increase in passenger traffic during the first half of the year, totaling 35.341 million passengers according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE). While the first five months of the year reached historic highs, June experienced a slight decline of 0.2% compared to the previous year, with 7.1 million passengers moving through airports.

Lisbon Airport handled 17.4 million passengers, accounting for 49.4% of the total volume and a 1.3% year-on-year growth. Porto Airport saw a 7.0% increase with 8.5 million passengers, while Faro Airport recorded 4.8 million passengers, representing a 3.8% rise.

In terms of international travel, the United Kingdom remained the primary country of origin and destination. France, Spain, Germany, and Italy followed as the second, third, fourth, and fifth most significant international partners for passenger movement.
