Portuguese Armed Forces adopt AI cyber defense systems

The Portuguese Armed Forces have strengthened their cyber defense capabilities through the integration of AI-driven systems developed by domestic companies BlackRoute and Ethiack.

The project, which involved the delivery of the Digital Sentinel and AI Ethical Hacking solutions to the Cyber Defense Operations Command of the EMGFA, has been in use since June. These systems are designed to continuously monitor exposed assets, prioritize vulnerabilities, and automate security testing.

Funded entirely by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the project cost over 920,000 euros. This initiative represents a practical application of public procurement for artificial intelligence in critical military functions, utilizing software developed by national companies to bolster technological sovereignty.
