Portuguese athletes compete at European Athletics Championships in Birmingham

Portuguese athletes are preparing for key events at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

José Carlos Pinto, the current Portuguese national record holder in the 5,000 metres, will make his outdoor European Championship debut. Pinto noted that facing Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen provides "extra incentive" for the final. Despite the presence of experienced competitors like Ingebrigtsen, Jimmy Gressier, and Dominic Lobalu, Pinto aims to leverage a tactical race to secure a strong result.

In sprinting, Tatjana Pinto has advanced directly to the 100-metre semifinals due to her recent national record of 11.02 seconds. The 34-year-old athlete expressed satisfaction with her injury-free preparation and stated her goal is to attempt to break her personal record during the competition.
