Portuguese authorities search for missing British national in Tagus River

Authorities in Portugal have intensified search operations for Julian Amaral, a British national who disappeared in the early hours of Wednesday after attending a party on a boat in the Tagus River (Rio Tejo).

According to reports, Amaral was staying with a cousin in Montijo while on vacation. He reportedly told a relative he was going to the bathroom but never returned. While initial reports suggested there were no credible indications he had fallen into the river, suspicions have since increased.

As of Friday, the Portuguese Navy and the Maritime Police have reinforced searches in the Rocha de Conde de Óbidos area near Lisbon. The National Maritime Authority's Forensic Diving Team has been deployed to the site to assist in the ongoing investigation led by the PSP.
