Portuguese basketball clubs begin pre-season preparations
Basketball clubs in Portugal are preparing for the upcoming season, with several teams in the Barreiro region focusing on roster construction for the Proliga and district divisions.
AREPA has begun its pre-season under coach Paulo Robles. The team, which competes in the Santarém District First Division, has announced nine new signings, including David Ribeiro, Salomão Neto, and Miguel Salvador. Robles aims for a competitive season following the team's fourth-place finish last year. The season will feature a local derby against GD Samora Correia SAD.
In the Proliga, three regional teams are currently building their squads for the competition starting October 3. FC Barreirense, the national first division champion, has announced the arrivals of André Marques and Pedro Costa, while retaining several players from the previous season under coach Carlos Caetano.
Galitos Barreiro, recently relegated from the Portuguese League, is being led by coach André Martins. The team has introduced new players Pedro Pardal Santos, Tomás Silva, Afonso Coelho, and Gonçalves Tavares. Meanwhile, ABC Santo André has already presented six new reinforcements to its squad.
