Portuguese cities see rising tourism interest and global rankings

Portuguese cities are seeing significant recognition and growth in the tourism sector. A study by the British hotel chain Premier Inn ranked Porto as the 26th most beautiful summer destination globally, scoring 61.5 out of 100 points based on visual evaluations from 200 participants. Porto outperformed Lisbon, which ranked 47th in the same study.

In terms of market trends, Lisbon is experiencing increased interest from Argentine travelers. In 2025, Argentina accounted for approximately 96,298 overnight stays in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, representing a 15.2% increase compared to 2024. While Argentina represents 0.4% of international guests in the region, the trend for this specific market is rising. The Lisbon region as a whole recorded over 21.2 million overnight stays and 9.5 million guests in 2025, with major markets including the United States, Spain, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and France.
