Portuguese clubs honor late football legends José Carinhas and Jorge Costa

Vitória Futebol Clube announced the death of former youth‑development director José Carinhas, praising his decades of work in shaping generations of young players. The club expressed condolences to his family and noted that his funeral will be held on Tuesday at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição chapel, with a subsequent service at the Algeruz cemetery.

One year after the passing of historic captain and former professional‑team director Jorge Costa, FC Porto organised a tribute at the Olival training centre. Players, staff and club officials observed a minute of silence, lowered flags to half‑mast and placed a floral wreath on Costa’s memorial plaque. A mass in his honour is scheduled at the Cristo Rei parish in Foz, with the team expected to attend.
