Portuguese clubs praise Algarve pre‑season camps as they gear up for new season

Rio Ave head coach Sotiris Silaidopoulos said the 12‑day pre‑season camp in the Algarve helped the squad become “stronger as a team,” highlighting the quality of facilities, the integration of new players and the focus on basic principles and physical preparation ahead of a demanding league start.

Vitória SC manager Tiago Margarido also expressed satisfaction after a 3‑1 friendly win over Al‑Ahli at the same training centre, noting that the game “demonstrates our evolution.” He pointed to improved group cohesion, the incorporation of reinforcements, and a more effective offensive third, while acknowledging that further work remains.

Both coaches emphasized the importance of the Algarve camps for building fitness, mentality and tactical cohesion as they approach the upcoming Portuguese league campaigns.
