European Union agrees to lift sanctions on two Russian oligarchs

The 27 member states of the European Union have reached a principle agreement to lift economic sanctions against two Russian oligarchs. This decision has drawn sharp criticism from Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha warned that removing these sanctions is “unacceptable” and could send a dangerous signal to Moscow at a time when international pressure should be increasing. The move follows discussions where France advocated for the removal of Alisher Usmanov, citing national security reasons, while the Slovak government introduced a new agenda regarding the matter.
