Portuguese cyclists finish 8th in European U23 Madison as youth athletes claim 20 medals in Vagos

At the European Junior and U23 Track Championships in Cottbus, Germany, the Portuguese duo João Martins and Gabriel Baptista placed eighth in the men's Madison event. Despite Martins recovering from a fall and multiple injuries earlier in the competition, the pair stayed at the front of the pack throughout the 40‑kilometre race. National track selector Gabriel Mendes praised their effort, noting the challenging conditions and the duo's determination.

In Vagos, Portugal, the Núcleo de Atletismo de Cucujães (NAC) youth team secured 20 podium finishes at the district championships across the Sub‑10, Sub‑12 and Sub‑14 categories. The club collected six gold, six silver and eight bronze medals, with standout performances from Maria Ferreira, Tiago Santos and Vicente Eziliano among others, as well as strong team results such as the Sub‑10 girls' runner‑up finish and the Sub‑14 boys' third place overall.
