Portuguese dioceses announce new pastoral plans and assemblies

The Diocese of Guarda will hold its 3rd General Diocesan Assembly on September 26 at the Bento Menni Health House. The event serves as the culmination of a year of reflection and aims to define pastoral priorities and challenges. The assembly will include expert panels, a “Conversação no Espírito” session, and the presentation of the 2026–2027 Pastoral Plan and Diocesan Pastoral Calendar.

In Évora, the Archdiocese has announced a new pastoral year themed ‘Christian Community: Fidelity and Renewal.’ This initiative marks the beginning of a three-year period focused on local structures. The strategy focuses on four main pillars: lay formation, the valorization of pastoral councils, the promotion of lay ministries, and the strengthening of the permanent diaconate. Additionally, the ‘Eco Igrejas Portugal’ pilot program will be hosted by the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Saúde.
