Portuguese employers plan significant hiring increase for year-end
Portuguese employers are planning a significant increase in hiring for the final quarter of the year. According to a study by ManpowerGroup, there is a projected 32% net employment creation for the last three months, marking a 14-point increase from the previous quarter.
Approximately 44% of employers intend to expand their teams, while another 44% plan to maintain current staffing levels. Only 12% of companies anticipate staff reductions. The industrial sector leads this optimism with a 40% hiring projection, the highest in four years. Other sectors showing strong prospects include construction and real estate.
Several factors are driving this recovery, including resilient economic growth in Portugal, robust exports, and steady household consumption. Additionally, the need for technological transformation and digital transition is increasing the demand for specialized profiles. However, risks remain, such as geopolitical tensions, fluctuating oil prices, inflation, and interest rate pressures.
