Portuguese film Santo António: O Casamenteiro de Lisboa joins Disney+

The Portuguese romantic comedy “Santo António: O Casamenteiro de Lisboa,” directed by Ruben Alves, is set to arrive on Disney+ in Portugal on November 10. The film, which has been cited as the most-watched Portuguese film in the last decade with over 218,000 cinema spectators, follows two characters, played by Rita Blanco and Joaquim Monchique, who serve as guardians of the Santo António wedding traditions in Lisbon.

The production features an ensemble cast including Joaquim de Almeida, Maria Rueff, and Paco León. This release marks the first time a Portuguese film has been included in the Disney+ catalog.
