Portuguese fire departments celebrate historical milestones

Two Portuguese fire departments recently marked significant anniversaries of their service to local populations.

The Associação Humanitária de Bombeiros dos Estoris in Cascais presented a book titled ‘100 anos ao serviço do próximo’ (100 years in service to others) to commemorate its century of history. The event, authored by Manuel Eugénio da Silva and José Ricardo Fialho, honored generations of firefighters. During the ceremony, a vehicle was donated to the Municipality of Paul in Cabo Verde, accompanied by a cooperation protocol to strengthen civil protection efforts between the two municipalities.

In Alcácer do Sal, the Bombeiros Mistos de Alcácer do Sal (BMAS) celebrated 115 years of operation. Mayor Clarisse Campos emphasized the municipality's commitment to continuous cooperation, including increased funding, support for aquatic equipment acquisition, and efforts to fund a Permanent Intervention Team. The ceremony included honorary decorations for long-serving members, such as Commander Luís Praguento.
