Vitória SC defeats Nacional 1-0 in Liga Portugal

Vitória SC secured their first victory of the Liga Portugal season with a 1-0 win against Nacional at the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques. Gustavo Silva scored the decisive goal in the 4th minute, earning him the ‘Conquistador do Jogo’ award from fans.

Despite dominating much of the match and recording 24 shots with an expected goal (xG) of 3.14, Vitória SC failed to extend their lead, notably missing a penalty by Samu Silva in the second half. Nacional remained competitive in the closing stages, but Vitória managed to hold onto their narrow advantage.

Following the match, Vitória manager Tiago Margarido expressed satisfaction with the team's attacking performance and growth, stating, “I believe this is the first of many victories.” Conversely, Nacional manager João Gião noted a lack of energy and difficulty managing Vitória's physical presence.
