Portugal football federation pilots low‑alcohol sales at Supertaça match

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) received government approval to test the sale and consumption of low‑alcohol beverages inside a sports venue for the first time since the 1980s. The pilot was carried out at the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira in Coimbra, where FC Porto defeated Torreense 1‑0.

FPF president Pedro Proença praised the initiative, calling it a historic step that could improve fan safety, generate additional revenue and give clubs treatment comparable to other entertainment industries. He thanked the ministries of Internal Administration, Health and Youth & Sports for their support and said the outcome would inform future decisions.

The government limited the trial to this single match and will evaluate the results before considering broader implementation.
