Portuguese Football Federation seeks Cristiano Ronaldo's return to national team

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) is working toward the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to the national team following his suspension for abandoning a training camp during the last FIFA international window. FPF President Pedro Proença stated there is a collective desire among the federation, the national team coach, and the players to have the captain back for the upcoming Nations League matches against Wales and Denmark in November.

While a formal disciplinary process will be conducted by an independent body, Proença expressed optimism that Ronaldo could be available for selection by November. The situation follows a period of tension between Ronaldo and coach Jorge Jesus. Commentator Farioli addressed the conflict, describing both men as ‘two legends of Portuguese football’ and noting the difficulty of taking sides in the ongoing dispute.
