Portuguese government reaffirms funding for Aveiro-Águeda road and hospital
Jorge Almeida, President of the Águeda Municipality and the Intermunicipal Community of the Aveiro Region (CIRA), has reaffirmed that the Aveiro-Águeda road axis will receive guaranteed government funding. Despite the project not being explicitly listed in the 2027 State Budget, Almeida stated that this was expected and does not invalidate previous public commitments made by high-ranking officials.
Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, also renewed the government's commitment to regional infrastructure. He addressed both the expansion of the Aveiro Hospital and the construction of the Aveiro-Águeda road. Regarding the hospital, the Minister noted that the Minister of Health is aware of the situation and committed to the expansion plan.
For the road project, which is currently in the final stages of a public tender with a proposal deadline of November 17, the government intends to define precise financial instruments once the costs and timelines resulting from the tender are established.
