Portuguese Government urges CEARTE to become national craft competence center
Adriano Rafael Moreira, the Secretary of State for Employment and Labor, has challenged the Professional Training Center for Craftsmanship and Heritage (CEARTE) to establish itself as a national center of competence for the craft sector. Speaking at the National Craftsmanship Awards ceremony in Coimbra, Moreira stated that while CEARTE is already an indisputable center of competence, it lacks the national notoriety required to serve as a primary reference for artisans and products.
The government aims to increase the sector's visibility by creating a national calendar of events, fairs, and seminars, with plans to finalize the 2027 schedule soon. Additionally, officials intend to focus on improving commercialization and distribution channels to ensure consumers can easily locate authentic artisanal products.
During the awards ceremony, the Ceramic and Glass Technological Center (CTCV) received the promotion award for private entities, while António Oliveira Cardoso was honored with the career award.
