Julian Alvarez pushes for Barcelona move as Atletico blocks negotiations
Julian Álvarez publicly declared that a transfer is "the best for everyone" after Argentina’s win over Austria, telling ESPN he has spoken with Atlético Madrid officials and wants to fulfill his dream. Barcelona have identified him as their top target to replace departing striker Robert Lewandowski and prepared a second official offer estimated at around €130 million. Atlético, however, have set a €500 million release clause and stated there is "no option to negotiate" with the Catalan club, even hinting at a possible FIFA complaint over alleged pressure. With the Alvarez deal stalled, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has broadened the search, eyeing forwards such as Junior Kroupi, Mikel Oyarzabal, Gonçalo Ramos and Benjamin Sesko. The saga underscores the urgency for Barça to secure a new striker as Lewandowski’s exit becomes final.
