Francisco Trincão transfers to Al Ahli for €40 million
Portuguese international winger Francisco Trincão moved from Sporting CP to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli on a four‑year contract. The deal was agreed for a base fee of about €40 million (≈ 45 million USD) with performance‑related add‑ons that could raise the total to roughly €44‑45 million. Al Ahli also assumed the FIFA solidarity contribution and the player’s agent fees.
Sporting’s financial statements show that the Trincão sale, together with other recent transfers, pushed the club’s total income from player sales past €100 million in the current window. The club had originally invested €21 million to acquire Trincão and expects to reinvest the proceeds to replace him. The player, 26, made 208 appearances for Sporting, scoring 47 goals and providing over 50 assists, and was part of Portugal’s squad at the 2026 World Cup.
Trincão will earn an annual net salary of around €11 million, making him one of the highest‑paid players in the Saudi league. The transfer underscores Saudi clubs’ willingness to spend heavily to attract established European talent.
