Portuguese intermunicipal communities address waste and health

The CIM do Tâmega e Sousa met with the government to discuss the Strategic Plan for Urban Waste (PERSU 2030). The discussions focused on selective collection, bio-waste valorization, and funding mechanisms to modernize collection and treatment systems. Key initiatives mentioned include the TERRA+ Strategy and the Bio-waste Acceleration Program (PAB), which aim to reduce landfill use and improve waste separation at the source.

In a separate regional matter, the CIM Alto Tâmega e Barroso expressed concern regarding the absence of Health Minister Ana Paula Martins at a scheduled meeting in Lisbon. The meeting, intended to address public health policies for the National Health Service (SNS) in the region, did not take place. While a meeting with Secretary of State for Health Francisco Pinheiro Catalão was proposed, local leaders decided the conditions were not suitable for the level of political dialogue required for the region's health concerns.
