World Canoeing Championships: Isaquias Queiroz finishes 9th in C1 1000m

At the World Canoeing Championships in Poznan, Poland, several notable results emerged for Brazilian and Portuguese athletes. Five-time Olympic medalist Isaquias Queiroz finished 9th in the C1 1000m final. Queiroz attributed his performance to a challenging year involving eye surgery and hip issues. He is scheduled to compete in the C1 500m final.

In the K4 500m event, the Portuguese quartet consisting of Gustavo Gonçalves, João Ribeiro, Messias Baptista, and Pedro Casinha secured the bronze medal with a time of 1:25.53, finishing behind Germany and Australia. Additionally, Portuguese paddler Fernando Pimenta qualified for the K1 1000m final after winning his semifinal.

In paracanoeing, Brazil saw success with Giovane Vieira de Paula and Jean Carlos Panucci Benites both qualifying for the VL3 200m masculine final, while Thais Coutinho de Freitas also advanced to the final in the VL3 200m feminine category.
