Portuguese Language Olympiad opens submissions for student works

Public school directors in Brazil can begin submitting student texts and documentaries for the 6th Portuguese Language Olympiad (OLP) starting Monday, August 12. The competition, themed “O Lugar Onde Vivo” (The Place Where I Live), features over 170,000 registrations from more than 42,000 schools across nearly 4,900 municipalities.

In addition to traditional categories such as poems, memoirs, chronicles, and opinion articles, the 2019 edition introduces a documentary category for first and second-year high school students. Directors must submit selected materials via the Escrevendo o Futuro website by August 19.

The Olympiad is a partnership between Itaú Social and the Ministry of Education (MEC), with technical coordination by Cenpec. Selected state winners will participate in regional meetings in São Paulo to engage in cultural and formative activities.
