Portuguese Metro Authorities Announce Service and Road Closures for Ongoing Infrastructure Projects

The Porto Metro announced that, despite delays to the Rubi line, several streets in the Gaia municipality will be reopened. Rua António Rodrigues da Rocha in Santo Ovídio is set to be freed by September, the Edgar Cardoso roundabout by May 2027, and Rua do Cavaco by January 2028. The agency also faces a pending issue over €25 million in public‑space tax exemptions awaiting a finance‑ministry decision.

In Lisbon, the Metro introduced temporary changes on the Blue Line at Praça de Espanha station. Phase 1, running until 10 August, closes the Santa Apólonia platform; Phase 2 (10‑31 August) swaps the closure to the Reboleira platform. Additional works affect the north and south concourses, with new elevators opening on 27 July and temporary ticket‑office relocation. Passengers are advised to check platform status and consider nearby stations such as Jardim Zoológico or São Sebastião.
