Portuguese Minister Luís Neves Criticized for Silence on Storm Response
Portuguese Minister of Internal Administration Luís Neves has come under growing political pressure for failing to comment on a series of controversies linked to his previous tenure as head of the Polícia Judiciária and the government's handling of relief after the severe storm Kristin.
Liberal Initiative leader Mariana Leitão said the minister's silence was “deafening”, accusing him of dragging the issue and urging Prime Minister Luís Montenegro to intervene. She also criticised the ruling PSD for blocking Neves from appearing before the parliamentary committee.
The matter was discussed on a radio program that referenced the recent sale of state‑owned Efacec to the German fund Mutares, highlighting broader concerns about government decisions and accountability.
