Portuguese municipalities honored at National Education Awards

The 5th edition of the National Education Awards, organized by Betweien, recognized several Portuguese municipalities for their impactful educational and community initiatives during a ceremony at the Gil Vicente Cultural Center in Sardoal.

Porto de Mós won first place in the “Fomento das Aprendizagens Essenciais” (Promotion of Essential Learning) category for its “Smile Dogs” project. This cinotherapy initiative uses therapeutic dogs to support children's physical and emotional well-being, inclusion, and skill development. The project currently supports 19 children and aims to expand to include those with special needs. Additionally, Porto de Mós received third place and an Honorable Mention in the “Cultura e Património” category for its “Semana da Educação” project.

Pampilhosa da Serra was also honored with two awards. The municipality secured first place for its “Desporto para Todos ao Longo da Vida” (Sport for All Throughout Life) project, which focuses on community involvement and quality of life. The municipality also received an Honorable Mention for its “Literacia em Saúde Mental” (Mental Health Literacy) initiative.
