Portuguese municipalities launch school supply support initiatives

Municipalities in Portugal are implementing new measures to support students and families with educational resources.

In Figueiró dos Vinhos, the local government will begin providing school supply kits for the 2026/2027 academic year. These kits will be tailored to different educational levels, including the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycles as well as secondary education. The supplies will include essential items such as pencils, pens, markers, erasers, scissors, and geometry instruments. This initiative aims to reduce family expenses and promote equal access to learning materials, complementing existing supports like free school transport and activity notebooks.

In Póvoa de Lanhoso, the municipality is providing workbook books for Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Portuguese, and English to all 781 students in the 1st cycle of basic education. The local government is also reinforcing school kits with additional consumable materials and providing specialized support technologies for inclusive education. The municipality continues to fund various pedagogical projects, including swimming programs, artistic workshops, and literacy initiatives.
