Portuguese municipalities maintain school support for 2026/2027

Municipalities in Portugal are maintaining various support measures for students and families for the 2026/2027 school year.

In Alcobaça, the municipality is providing 100% reimbursement for workbooks for students from the 1st to 6th grades through the ‘Ação Social Escolar Alargada’ program. Students in the 1st and 2nd grades receive reimbursement for Portuguese and Mathematics workbooks, while those in the 3rd to 6th grades include English. Applications must be submitted via the SIGA platform between August 5 and September 30, 2026.

Lagoa is also continuing its support programs, including free school supplies for pre-school and 1st-cycle students. Students in the 2nd and 3rd cycles and secondary education will receive a 25-euro voucher for school materials. Additionally, Lagoa provides free workbooks for 1st-cycle students and specific subject workbooks for 2nd-cycle students. Other measures include free school meals for eligible students and free school transportation for all students until the end of compulsory education.
