Portuguese municipalities Mourão and Moura allocate funds for band and animal welfare programs

The Mourão municipal council signed a collaboration protocol that will provide the Mourão Municipal Band with €15,750 for 2026. Of this amount, €13,750 will cover the band’s operating expenses and €2,000 will be used for investment such as new instruments, uniforms and logistical needs, supporting its ongoing cultural activities and the Academy of Music Rodrigo Ralo for children and youth.

The Moura municipal council expanded its animal‑welfare programme in July, purchasing one tonne of dog feed and one tonne of cat feed for stray colonies and for the SOS Animais association. Caretakers collect the food from a partner store under a registration system monitored by the municipal veterinary office, while the council also funds free sterilisation for colony animals and subsidises part of the cost for owned pets.
