Portuguese municipalities promote equality and inclusion initiatives

Several municipalities in Portugal are conducting programs to promote social inclusion, diversity, and equality.

In Penalva do Castelo, the “Degraus para a Igualdade” (Steps for Equality) project has been implemented in local schools. The initiative involves placing inspiring phrases on the staircases of the Escola Básica Integrada and the Escola Básica e Secundária to sensitize the educational community to respect, difference, and equal opportunities.

In Barcelos, the conclusion of Equality Month features various activities, including the second edition of the Municipal Seal for Diversity, Equality, and Conciliation. This seal recognizes entities committed to balancing professional, family, and personal life. Other events include the “Identidades Romani” photographic exhibition and district conferences focused on the role of art in social intervention.
