Portuguese municipalities promote local heritage through cultural tours

Municipalities in Portugal are launching initiatives to promote local heritage and history. In Oliveira de Azeméis, the “Roteiro das Freguesias” program begins on September 2. This initiative aims to connect residents with the traditions, gastronomy, and emblematic spaces of the various parishes within the municipality.

The first tour will focus on the historical and natural heritage of Oliveira de Azeméis, starting in Macieira de Sarnes. The itinerary includes visits to the city's historic center, La Salette Park, and the Berço Vidreiro facilities.

In Celorico da Beira, the municipality recently held a night guided tour titled “Do Barroco d’el Rei à Estrada Real.” The tour explored the historical evolution of the town's communication routes, covering topics from the construction of the Estrada Real in 1867 to the arrival of the railway and the development of national roads.
