Portuguese municipalities secure funding for water infrastructure
Several Portuguese municipalities are advancing water infrastructure and environmental protection projects through new funding agreements.
In Castro Marim, a protocol was signed with the Environmental Fund to finance 40% of a water supply project for Cortelha, Marroquil, Amendoeira, Beliche, and Corte Gago. This funding, combined with 60% previously approved by Portugal 2030, ensures full financing for the construction of a water distribution network and a reservoir in Pero Vaz. The project aims to provide basic services to isolated mountain settlements.
In Tábua, the municipality formalized a technical and financial cooperation protocol with the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) to requalify the banks of a tributary of the Ribeira de Tábua. The 150,000 euro investment is intended to improve safety, drainage conditions, and the protection of water resources against extreme weather events.
