Portuguese municipalities welcome educational professionals for new school year

Municipalities in Portugal held reception events to welcome educational professionals for the start of the new school year.

In Barreiro, an event at Moinho de Maré Grande gathered hundreds of professionals, including municipal and parish representatives. The gathering honored teachers and non-teaching staff who retired during the 2025/2026 school year with diplomas of recognition. Local officials Frederico Rosa and Sara Ferreira welcomed new staff and emphasized the importance of a strong educational community. Additionally, the Ecoescovinha project recognized the Jardim de Infância da Fonte do Feto as a winner and the Agrupamento de Escolas do Barreiro with an honorable mention.

In Vila Viçosa, a reception brought together 150 professionals, including teachers, assistants, and technical staff. Councilor Mónica Lobo noted that the initiative aims to welcome those working with the community and foster collaboration among different specialists, such as psychologists and speech therapists, to support student development.
