Portuguese rally drivers face podium success and rising costs

In the Portuguese rally scene, Rui Camões secured third place overall at the Rally de Vizela driving a Citroën Saxo Cup. His podium finish was initially subject to a dispute regarding a 10-second penalty, but the Race Direction reviewed the situation and upheld the original result in favor of Camões’ team.

Meanwhile, Pedro Silva, competing in the Campeonato de Portugal de Ralis (CPR), has expressed significant concern regarding the rising costs of the sport. As he prepares for the Rali Casinos do Algarve to defend his second-place standing in the championship, Silva criticized registration fees exceeding €2,000. He argued that the financial burden on drivers is becoming unsustainable due to increased travel distances and logistical requirements, suggesting that competitors may eventually need to abandon the championship if the financial model is not addressed.
