Portuguese reconnaissance platoon returns from NATO mission in Romania

A 24-member reconnaissance platoon from the 8th National Detached Force of the Portuguese Army has returned to the Cavalry Regiment No. 3 in Estremoz following the completion of its mission in Romania.

The deployment was part of Portugal's contribution to NATO's efforts to bolster deterrence and defense on the Alliance's eastern flank. The mission aimed to strengthen allied presence and contain regional instability to prevent it from spreading to other allied territories.

Upon their return on August 5, the soldiers were received by Lieutenant Colonel Fernando Lopes. The unit is now entering a period of readjustment, which includes physical and psychological recovery and leave, before preparing for the next operational training cycle.
