Portuguese regional entities host conferences on rural development
Regional organizations in Portugal are hosting conferences to address the challenges and future of rural territories.
In Arraiolos, Monte – Desenvolvimento Alentejo Central marked 30 years of activity with a seminar titled ‘The Future is Made in the Territory’. The event brought together approximately 60 representatives from public entities, local development organizations, and specialists to discuss local development, social innovation, and the role of local development within new public policy cycles.
In Fundão, a conference involving the municipalities of Belmonte, Covilhã, Fundão, Manteigas, and Penamacor focused on a shared vision for rural areas. This meeting introduced the ‘Compromisso Rural 2035’ (Rural Commitment 2035) as a strategic roadmap for the region. The event also launched the 35th-anniversary celebrations of RUDE, an entity dedicated to working with rural communities and organizations.
