Portuguese schools and municipality receive Eco-Schools Green Flag awards

Several educational institutions and local authorities in Portugal were honored during the Eco-Schools Green Flag 2026 ceremony held at Air Base No. 1 in Sintra. The event, organized by the Association for Blue Flag, Environment and Education (ABAAE) and the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), serves as a major national gathering for environmental education.

The Escola Básica e Secundária do Centro de Portugal was awarded the Green Flag for the 2025/2026 school year. Additionally, the Municipality of Vila de Rei received recognition as a partner for its support in implementing environmental education programs.

The Eco-Schools program aims to improve the environmental performance of schools, encourage sustainable behaviors, and foster citizenship among students, teachers, and the wider community.
