Portuguese sports clubs celebrate major anniversaries

Portuguese sports institutions are celebrating significant milestones. Grupo Desportivo Os Amarelos, based in the Santos Nicolau neighborhood of Setúbal, is marking 70 years since its founding on March 1, 1956. The club serves as a community hub for football, athletics, aikido, and deep-sea sport fishing, where it has achieved national championship status and a fourth-place finish in a World Championship.

In Madeira, Club Sport Marítimo celebrated its 116th anniversary with a dinner at the Casino da Madeira. The event honored long-standing members, including José Marcelo Morna, who received a diamond emblem for 75 years of affiliation. Additionally, 36 members were recognized for 50 years of membership, including former president Rui Fontes. The celebration coincides with the club's return to the I Liga and the centenary of its Portugal Championship victory.
