Portuguese sports organizations promote ethics and citizenship
Various Portuguese institutions are implementing initiatives to promote ethical behavior and social values through sports. In Rio Maior, the “12.º Jogador” project—a joint effort involving the Liga Portugal Foundation, the Portuguese Football Association, and security forces like the GNR and PSP—visited the Fernando Casimiro Pereira da Silva Basic School to educate youth on good practices both inside and outside stadiums.
Additionally, the football club União de Leiria has been honored with the “Bandeira da Ética 2026” award by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ). The distinction recognizes the club's commitment to integrating ethical principles into its operational strategies, focusing on developing athletes as responsible citizens. The club's leadership emphasized that these practices are essential for long-term social impact and community resilience.
