Portuguese towns Vila Nova de Famalicão and Silvalde mark city‑village anniversaries with honors and charity
Vila Nova de Famalicão celebrated the 41st anniversary of its elevation to city status with a programme that included a senior picnic, a solemn ceremony at the Casa da Arte and a series of municipal medals. The top award, the Medalha de Honra do Município, was presented to Isabel Furtado, CEO of TMG Automotive, recognizing her leadership in turning the local firm into a global brand.
Silvalde marked the 23rd anniversary of its elevation to village status with a formal session that honoured local personalities and institutions. The event raised €837 for charity, allocating €500 to the IPO do Porto and €337 to the Red Cross’s Espinho branch. Honorees included golfer José Ganja and industrial entrepreneurs Fernando and Daniel brothers, highlighting community contributions to sport and business.
