PortXchange expands EmissionInsider to support port decarbonization
PortXchange is expanding its EmissionInsider platform to provide ports with advanced tools for managing environmental impact. The new features include multimodal emissions monitoring, forecasting, scenario modelling, and AI-assisted decarbonization planning.
Managing Director and Co-Founder Sjoerd de Jager noted that while ports have improved at measuring emissions, the data must be used to guide operational and investment decisions rather than just serving as a reporting end-point. The company aims to bridge the gap between sustainability teams and daily port operations by providing shared data that connects throughput targets with environmental consequences.
In a broader industry context, the ISO 14083:2023 standard has established a common methodology for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions across passenger and freight transport chains. This standard emphasizes the need for defined boundaries, journey mapping, and transparent calculation methods to allow customers to compare transport options effectively.
