Regional initiatives boost entrepreneurship and vocational training in Latin America

Various regional initiatives are being launched to support local entrepreneurship and vocational training across Latin America.

In Chile, the Magallanes Regional Government and Sercotec have launched the Emprende Yagán and Crece Yagán programs, investing approximately $792 million to support Yagán community entrepreneurs in sectors like fishing, tourism, and crafts. Similarly, in Villarrica, the municipality concluded its 2026 Labor Workshops, which trained over 1,500 people in various trades.

In Argentina, several programs focus on skill development. The Ministry of Community Development and UNTREF concluded a training phase for entrepreneurs in Tres de Febrero, while Río Grande is providing free sewing resources through the ‘Cosiendo Vínculos’ program and municipal workshops. In Entre Ríos, new credit lines are available for food sector entrepreneurs, and General Pico has distributed credits to local small businesses. Additionally, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas in Mexico held an innovation forum to link student talent with regional economic needs.

In Uruguay, the Centro Pyme de Cerro Largo is offering training in foreign trade and imports, while Lavalleja is advancing its ‘Turismo 4.0’ pilot plan to modernize the local tourism sector.
