Posadas labor market shows improvement despite supply-demand gap

The labor market in Posadas, Argentina, showed year-on-year improvement during the first quarter of 2026. According to the Municipal Data Management Office, the employment rate reached 44.3%, a more than two percentage point increase compared to the same period in 2025. The unemployment rate fell to 4.7%, down from 6% the previous year, performing better than the national average of 7.8% for surveyed urban areas.

Key sectors driving employment include commerce and vehicle repair (22.4%), public administration (14.1%), construction (10.8%), and teaching (9%).

Despite these statistical improvements, local officials highlight a significant gap between labor supply and demand. Ignacio Abrazian, director of the Municipal Employment Office, noted that while the office receives over 1,000 applicants per month, it currently works with only about 25 companies. The office is focusing on strengthening ties with the private sector and utilizing national programs to stimulate job offers and bridge the gap between job seekers and available vacancies.
