POSCO Group accelerates Triple-Core strategy for resource expansion

POSCO Group Chairman Chang In-hwa convened group executives at the 2026 POSCO Forum in Songdo to accelerate the implementation of the ‘Triple-Core’ growth strategy. This initiative aims to transition the group’s portfolio toward a resource-centric model, integrating industrial resources (steel), strategic resources (lithium, cathode/anode materials, rare earths), and energy resources (LNG, renewable energy).

During the two-day forum, Chairman Chang emphasized that “rapid execution is the key to survival” amidst geopolitical shifts and technological paradigm changes. The group’s ambitious targets include increasing total revenue from 116 trillion won to 187 trillion won and operating profit from 2.2 trillion won to 13.1 trillion won by 2035. To support this, POSCO plans to invest 29.1 trillion won between 2026 and 2028.

Key strategic priorities identified include the localization of steel production, securing dominance in major lithium and rare earth markets, and strengthening the buffering role of the energy business. The forum also explored the application of ‘Physical AI’ for autonomous manufacturing. Dominic Barton, Chairman of Rio Tinto, delivered a keynote address analyzing how geopolitical and technological changes impact corporate value and portfolio restructuring.
