POSCO International tokenizes trade receivables on Avalanche

POSCO International has completed a trade-finance pilot that tokenizes real trade receivables using the Avalanche blockchain infrastructure. The project involved POSCO International America, the fintech firm Intain, and the trade finance platform Olea.

The process utilized AI systems to verify invoices, shipping records, and other trade documents to ensure underlying transactions matched before registration. Once verified, Intain recorded the receivables on its Layer-1 network built on Avalanche, creating a transparent ownership trail. Olea, which is backed by SC Ventures, provided the capital to acquire the tokenized assets.

This marks the second such pilot for POSCO International in recent months, following a July project with LG CNS using the Injective network. The company is exploring multiple blockchain infrastructures to enhance settlement efficiency and reduce paperwork. Future plans include examining stablecoins for cross-border payments and developing digital treasury services.
