Posit to transition shinyapps.io users to Posit Connect Cloud

Posit has announced that shinyapps.io will stop accepting new applications at the end of 2026. All users will be transitioned to Posit Connect Cloud, with existing content scheduled to migrate automatically in early 2027.

Posit Connect Cloud expands upon the features of shinyapps.io by supporting more than just Shiny applications; it also accommodates Streamlit, Bokeh, and Jupyter Notebooks. Additionally, all plans offer unlimited hosting for rendered Quarto and R Markdown documents. New features include the ability to set secret variables, scheduled content regeneration, higher compute limits, and SSL certificates for custom domains.

While previous deployment methods for shinyapps.io remain functional, users utilizing automated workflows, such as GitHub Actions, will need to adjust their deployment strategies to accommodate the move to Posit Connect Cloud.
