Positano council debates increasing number of external assessors
In Positano, a municipal council meeting saw intense political debate regarding proposed changes to the local statute. The amendment seeks to increase the maximum number of external assessors from one to two.
Opposition councilor and former mayor Giuseppe Guida criticized the move, arguing that it allows half of the municipal executive to consist of members not directly elected by citizens, which he claims undermines democratic representation. In response, Mayor Gabriella Guida defended the decision, stating that the administration may appoint technical assessors with specific expertise to achieve its goals. She also noted that the expansion would ensure gender parity within the executive in accordance with national regulations.
Beyond the political dispute, the council approved urgent spending for safety works on the SS163 state road in via G. Marconi.
