Guayaquil violence: Three minors killed and Navy office attacked in Ecuador

Ecuador is facing a surge in violent incidents in the Guayas province. In the Flor de Bastión sector of Guayaquil, an armed attack by approximately six individuals on motorcycles resulted in the deaths of three minors, aged 7, 13, and 15. The victims were shot multiple times inside their home. A 49-year-old man was also wounded in the attack, sustaining a gunshot wound to his back. Authorities are investigating whether the killings are linked to territorial disputes between the criminal factions Los Fénix and Los Igualitos.

In a separate incident in Posorja, an armed attack targeted the Navy's Port Captaincy office. Two individuals using long-range weapons and explosives attacked the facility, causing material damage to walls, windows, and vehicles. While no injuries or deaths were reported, the Ecuadorian Prosecutor's Office has opened a terrorism investigation into the event. Military intelligence suggests the attack may be a retaliation by criminal organizations against naval operations in the strategic port area, which is a key transit point for international exports.
