Post Office and Muhtarlar Birliği sign rural service protocol
The Post Office and the Muhtarlar Birliği (Union of Mukhtars) have signed a cooperation protocol to improve postal distribution and transportation services in villages and rural settlements. The agreement was signed by Post Office Director İlknur Ertuğrul Topal and Muhtarlar Birliği President Akay Darbaz.
The protocol aims to resolve difficulties regarding address identification and reaching citizens, ensuring that mail is delivered more quickly, regularly, and reliably. Under the agreement, Mukhtars will assist postal personnel by providing information on addresses, households, and settlement details within village boundaries, as permitted by legislation. They will also notify postal units about address changes, new settlements, moves, and transportation issues that may affect delivery.
While Mukhtars will support coordination and information efforts, the protocol specifies that they are not assigned primary duties for the actual delivery or collection of mail. All responsibilities regarding the acceptance, processing, transport, and delivery of mail remain with the Post Office. The agreement also includes provisions for postal privacy and the protection of personal data, stipulating that any personal information obtained by Mukhtars may only be used to support postal services within legal limits.
